Who We Are

W.I.S.E. CASA is a visionary extension of one of many community project designed to aggressively fight the growing problem of domestic violence. It takes more than temporary shelter to begin a new life of moving from crisis to becoming self- sufficiency. It requires a complete lifestyle change – a change founded in renewed hope for the future. WC, incorporated as a 501(c)(3), based on this understanding and designed to complement the work of other organizations by providing long-term assistance to single women with no children , who are attempting to break the cycle of abuse and hopelessness.

In addition to the expected services such as counseling, food and shelter, WC offers a vital and unique one - two-year program designed to heal all areas of a resident’s life. All residents will be assigned to a mentor which gives them someone to walk them through every phase of the transition daily. All residents will receive referrals for permanent housing, education, transportation, job search skills, food and clothing, medical care and, most importantly,
rebuilding their self-esteem to become self-sufficient.

With a very small budget, our goal is to help as many women possible. Therefore, WC depends heavily on volunteers, corporate and private sponsors to help us reach our goals.

The Vision

The Mission

W.I.S.E. CASA will reach as many battered women as possible in a highly respected and safe environment with each receiving
every resource needed to become self-sufficient.

The mission of W.I.S.E. CASA is to assist single female with no children, who are victims of domestic violence by establishing
and maintaining safe housing, which will provide shelter to these victims.

Volunteers

W.I.S.E. CASA sponsors and volunteers are a vital part of our programs and services. Whether you’re an individual, part of a church group, or a corporation, there’s a place for you in our volunteer programs.   There are several levels of services you can give your time, donations and talents to W.I.S.E. CASA.  Each resident is only allowed to bring their clothing; therefore, other needed items are donated by our W.I.S.E. CASA volunteers. Leaving an abusive relationship is more than just emotionally difficult. Many women who use our services leave behind everything they own just to escape. Sometimes women come to us with just the clothes on their back. We must provide clothing, bedding, medicine, toiletries, and, of course food and housing. However, we can only continue to provide these things through the generosity of the community with both in-kind and monetary donations.

Level 02 Volunteer

Level Two Community Organizations, Corporate Sponsors, and Private Sponsors

Adopt a room for one year - $5, 000

This assures us that no one with a need for housing will be turned away as space is available. It is alsoour goal as we continue our partnership with safe shelter agencies within the city; we allocate funds foremergency hotel accommodations.

Level 03 Volunteer

Corporate and Private Sponsors  -  $6,000.00 - $15, 000.00

With the need greatly exceeding the available resources, less than 10% of the women who attempt to break free of an abusive situation will find space in a local shelter. For those that are fortunate enough to find space, it is a very temporary haven – usually 31 days or less. At this point, possessing only the clothes on their backs, very few job skills, almost no work experience and even less self-esteem, they must find permanent housing and a means of supporting themselves.  Statistics show Less than 30% of them will succeed the first time they leave abusive homes! The others will return to a life of fear, pain and anguish because they see no other option. Over 3,000 women each year are killed in the USA by their partners/husbands.

With Corporate and Private sponsors on this level we can make a great impact in the housing of the single women with no children.  Why is this significant?  There are several resources for women with children in Dallas County; however, the resources are very limited for single women with no children.

Operational expenses, bus passes, food vouchers, hotel vouchers and security maintenance are a few areas where corporate and private funding will be used.

Referrals & Resources

W.I.S.E. CASA provides outreach, advocacy, and housing to single battered women.  Our advocates are passionate about helping by assisting them every step of the way.  Whether she decides to stay or leave, we can help them discover ways to keep her safe.

Referrals are given by local organizations and partner organizations.  We have a strong partnership with various agencies in Dallas County.  This includes a wealth of resources that are advocated and made available to each resident.  We are open 24 hours and 7 days a week.
